UNFCCC COP28 Side Event: Navigating the Blue Future: Unlocking Sustainable Finance for Commonwealth’s Ocean Economy

The Commonwealth Secretariat, in collaboration with the Ocean Risk Resilience Action Alliance (ORRAA) and the UNEP Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), is pleased to collaborate on this important side event at UNFCCC COP28 focused on addressing the challenges and opportunities within the blue economy.
This event aims to explore and introduce you to new and emerging financial mechanisms that can support sustainable blue investment, with a particular focus on small states, including small island developing states (SIDS), least developed countries (LDCs), and climate-vulnerable coastal countries within the Commonwealth. The event will also highlight the barriers for countries to access climate funding through traditional funding mechanisms.
